An application of quality tools to improve the tyre remanufacturing process

Abstract The tyre remanufacturing industries are facing quality and performance issues of the remanufactured tyres as they have developed their own retreading methods due to lack standardized process guidelines. This study focuses on identifying challenges process, highlighting various defects in retread causes so that could be mitigated improved. To achieve objectives study, tools including fishbone diagram Pareto chart has been used. For above analysis, data collected through multiple field visits semi-structured interviews. findings indicate organizations can improve utilization worn-out by implementing corrective actions at different stages remanufacturing. According cause-and-effect found failure tread standard joint method, side bulge generation sidewall degrading, buffer layer crack. Besides, a few recommendations made for increase productivity minimize retreaded tyres.
